Story

Buck is the colt that Lily had in February of 2008.  There are many pages in this blog about his birth and me working with him the first 5 months of his life.  I sold him at 5 months old to some awesome people.  They spent the first 2 years of his life teaching him parelli games, and he was very loved.  I have had constant communication with the owners, and at one point, I was even put in their will, so that if anything happened to them, Buck would return to me.  It has been fun to be in touch with his owners as he has grown up.

One day out of the blue, I got an email from his owner.  She has fallen on some really tough times, and she had decided that she needed to let the horses go.  She asked me if I would take Buck and give him a good home.  As I thought about it, I felt a stirring in my heart.  The last pictures I had seen, had him looking very much like Lily (the horse this blog is dedicated to).  I decided that I would take him, and we made arrangements.

I drove down and picked him up.  It shocked me how much like his mother he looks.  His coloring is just like hers, besides the wide blaze that he has.  He's a pretty boy, and has some good ground manners as well.  I think I'm going to like having him around.  Buck is a gelding, and stands at 16 hands tall.

I was told that he was at a trainers for 6 months, and that the trainer sent him away stating that he needed "a professional".  I am not sure what that means, and will start to work Buck to see what he can do.  He is at an age where he could very easily become a saddle horse for me.  I am very happy to have a little peice of Lily back in my life.  I know he will not replace her, but a part of my heart has been overjoyed at getting him.  So neat to be able to see Lily through him.

The mares - checking out the new guy.

Due to my work getting busy, I knew that I just didn't have the time to bring Buck to his potential with proper training.  I sold him to a great group of folks in Arizona.  They do jumping events and Buck was to be the riding horse for one of their husbands.  So happy he is in a good place getting the attention he deserves!
