I'm going to try and get this blog updated with all the new stuff going on around here.
This spring I had a great opportunity to purchase a team of Belgians and some great farm equipment. I'd like to instroduce you to Laverne and Shirley. They are a team that has been together most of their life. They seem to be in their 20s, and know how to work.

Introducing Laverne and Shirley |
Check out the new toys!!! :) I got a harrow, a foot plow, an I&J forcart, a metal horse stock, and an old running gear that I intend to make a hay wagon out of.

I also got a hay rake shortly before the other toys. This is a nice ground driven one that is in great condition!
This leaves me with 3 horses. They get along fine and I hope to be doing lots of 3 abreast work soon.

One other note of caution ... watch your horses. Put your hands on them everyday. Pam was standing out in the pasture for a few days. We saw her, but never actually went out to her. Turns out she had found a loose strand of barbed wire and it had wrapped her back ankles completely together. We noticed when she went down. Not a good situation and we nearly lost her. Thanks to my wife and a good vet we were able to bring her back. She still has nasty wounds on her ankles that are healing. Keep an eye on your horse babies!!
